color and msrp
I'm in the market of buying the s2k and was wondering, where you bought yours for msrp, I live in the so cali region, fullerton area to be exact and dowtown los angeles, when school is in session. Have any refrences? I'm probably going to buy it after my prelude lease is up in Febuary. Also I was wondering what you think is a good color, I really like the white on red, combo, agreed? If not the, black on black , but it gets dirty often, and hides the lines of the car a bit. Silver maybe because I have a silver car on my prelude, please reply with your suggestions
I bought my yellow 2001 at Metro Honda off the I-10 just west of the I-15. I paid $33,100 w/titanium shift knob, cd changer, and spoiler. They'll beat any quote you bring them. I live in Vegas and called all throughout NV, Ca, and Az. It was the best deal I found. I talked to them on a Thursday and by Friday they told me to drive out there and pick it up. It was by far the best car buying experience I've ever had! Every thing was done over the phone and I went and signed the papers the next day. I heard that Penske Honda was doing them for MSRP, but most of theirs have forced options. Good luck!
I bought mine at Canyon Honda in Anaheim Hills for MSRP. I only got it for that price since they wanted to sell it before the end of the quarter. I bought it on Sept. 30th and the sales manager told me that it was only offered for MSRP for that day. Sounds like a slaes pitch, but I just thought it was a great deal. You can try buying from out of state and shipping it over too. Some people have had some good luck with that.
By the way, there are a ton of Trojans on this board.

As far as color, if rumors are true, there should be a blue available by the time you're ready to buy, so you may want to consider blue on black.
As far as MSRP, I posted this before. This method for getting MSRP worked for me...

I considered buying out of state, but I heard from several sources that CA charges a significant fee for CA emissions on cars bought out of state.
I definitely suggest buying within state lines.
Things to consider...
Out of state purchases...
1) Don't get to see / test drive the car first
2) Things happen during shipping (rock chips, strap burns on paint, etc.
3) Shipping fee
4) CA emissions fee
5) Have to pay your local tax anyway.
Try this...
1) Find a list of all the Honda dealerships local to you. Down here, the L.A. Times prints this in the end of the Automobile Classifieds section.
2a) Call them and ask for the color combo you want. If they have it, tell them one of the other dealers local to you is selling it to you for MSRP, but it's not arriving until next week, and you don't want to wait.
2b) Tell them someone in SoCal is selling for MSRP (with no options), but you'd rather not make the drive.
This was the only way I could get dealers to move on the price. I was guaranteed MSRP OVER THE PHONE, no dealer options! Try this out...
If you can't get a Bay Area dealer to give you MSRP, call Hardin Honda in Anaheim. It's where I got mine for MSRP.
