Default Color of my rims?

I'm not sure if i'm going crazy or what, but I just bought a 03 S2K and still have stock rims on it. The car is in amazing condition, only has 20K mile. The rims which are stock are bothering me and heres why, hopefully im going crazy and its the position im standing at.

The two rears rims (and i pointed this out to the dealer when i bought it) look to have a yellowish tint to them. I noticed it at the dealership and told my sales guy, he said he didnt notice and that its probably the way the sun is hitting them. Anyways, today at the mall im parked next to another s2K and its an AP1 like mine, same rims and i dont notice then discolorization. They look normal, I look at mine and i see that faint yellowish hue. Hopefully this has been discussed on the board and you guys can torch me and let me know im goiiiin crazy or that its an s2K thing!!!

I would post pics but it was dark when i got home.

Thanks

I haven't seen this discussed before. Maybe some kind of asphalt contamination? Have you tried putting some thinner on a rag & seeing if it will wipe off?

Well, I have seen this discussed before. the '00 and '01 wheels have a slightly different color than the '02 and '03 cars. It sounds like you have two older wheels and two newer wheels.

Now the stock wheels are painted with a clear coat so putting thinner on them would likely ruin the wheels.

Thanks for the replies guys, no, the car was not in an accident, they showed me the carfax details before i bought it. Thats interesting about the newer wheels and older wheels scenerio. Do you think if thats true that I can go back to the dealership and see if they can replace, I mean I did mention it to the salesmen before I bought it. Its really an eye sore to me

didn't know about 00-01 color difference. if that turns out to be the problem you can look for replacements in the For Sale forum. fyi, thinner didn't bother the clear coat on my 02 wheels when i used it on a cotton rag to wipe off tar residue. worked fine.

Well I do want to get new rims anyway, so its not too big a deal, im just a little ticked at the dealer if it turns out they are two different rims on the back then on the front. This car had only one owner previously, and he took great care of the car, im just wondering when they put new tires on at the dealership (which they did, car had to be balanced before i took it home) that someone screwed up somewhere.

Maybe I can get them to give me a credit towards my new rims

It could be that someone along the way used a heavy duty wheel acid that was left on to long before being rinsed off. If that is the case, then it has etched into the wheel and the discoloation is permanent. Try using a little kerosene on a rag and see if that may help. If not, like Emil said, powder coat is cheap and looks great when done right.
