I have just put some 18" by 7.5" Team 5Zigen rims on my S2K. Anyone need stock rims let me know. I have 4 up for sale. Will take any reasonable offer. The rims are in good shape, and hopefully I will be able to provide a picture soon. One rim has a nich at the outer edge, but other than that they are in really nice shape. Let me know if you want/need any of these.

thx

Yes I already have them on the car. I went with the same size all around so I can rotate tires. Plus they didn't have an 8" width available for the rims I ordered so I had to stick with the 7.5 all the way. I will post some pics of the car soon with the new rims.

Quite worried. I know you can rotate your wheels, but this has some serious negative effects on handling and fitment. For one thing, the hubs are different sizes on the front and rear. Secondly, putting the same sized wheel all around, even if the tires are staggard will cause serious handling problems where your back end will come around because of all the oversteer.

what size tires do you have on the front and rear?

I agree and have heard this from experienced racers as well. The difference in tire width front to rear plays an integral role in the handling characteristics of the S2000.

The shape of the tires is not good. There is some tread left on the rear, but the fronts have hardly any. As for the statements made on handling I have noticed better handling. I have 2 more inches of tire hitting the road in the front which helps "grab" the road. I haven't had a problem yet. Besides I don't plan on taking this thing racing anytime soon, but so far it handles a lot better. The oversteer is not worse than when it was stock. This car will come around on you stock pretty easy if you don't know what you are doing.

i gotta agree with randy and 99.9% of the s2k owners out there that staggered is the way to go.

but.... just out curiosity, what kind of 5zigen rims did you put on? i always wanted to to get a set of 5zigen rims, but they don't have make any with the proper offsets that would make a staggered setup possible. got pics?

The name of the rims are Fighter. Like I said earlier about the staggering, i'm not racing anytime soon so it really isn't that big of a worry. It handles well in rain and most other conditions so I'm happy with them. I would recommend these rims definitely if you are not going to race the vehicle or anything of that nature. I will try to get some pics soon. I will post them in this thread when I do. You can check the rims out at discounttiredirect.com. Got a quick question...is there more oversteer because you have more tire on the ground in the front? It seems like the most probable cause for increased oversteer in this case is from increased grab up front. Just wondering because I'm not too familiar with this situation. Thanks for the info.

Correct, you might not be racing, might not be going to an autocross, nor a driver education event at TWS/MSR, etc. However, on some spirited drives, we do get up to speed around the twisties and drive aggressively. This is where the unbalanced nature will come into play.

Yes, the proportions of the front vs. back have now been altered. So you have the same width of a wheel in the rear as you had before, and in the front you have increased the width of the wheel, thus provided the car with more oversteer.

Check this out - Library Article: Tuning Your Suspension

Although it might not come into play with day to day driving, once you hit some curves and try to push the car, just be prepared and know what its going to do. Its not to say that this is an entirely wrong thing to do with the car - its just strongly advised that you keep the staggard wheel setup.

One other comment - the hub diameter is different front and rear, so the rear's might not actually be 'on' there correctly. Hmmm, I'm curious to see.
