Default colour of vents on "silverstone" ap1's

g'day

i have noticed that some "silvesrtone" ap1 s2000's have black vents on the front bumper and some have grey vents. the vents being the two smaller holes in the bumper adjacent the main (large) grill.

why is this?

how would i go about replacing or painting my vents black to match the main grill cover?

any help would be much appreciated.

thanks.

I'm assuming age and environmental factors which have faded the black vents to grey is why you see some AP1's with grey, some with black.

Is it only on silverstone you notice such a thing?

Silverstone is one of the colors that has been around since the 2000 model year...the age is creeping up on those cars.

You don't need to paint it, there are plastic conditioning products out there like black out that allow you to recondition the plastic to it's normal black color.

Or a body job did a poor job painting the front bumper and didn't mask the fake ducts. We see it all the time on cars with faux brake ducts.

Out of curiosity, do you have a picture of what you're talking about? I have an '01 silverstone and I just went and looked to see, mine look black.

an example of the black vent is shown in the last photo in the following link:

i swear i see more grey vents than black vents out there for australian ap1's.

its supposed to be black... im not sure about it fading, but i think if the vent is silver, the bumper was repainted and they forgot to cover the vents.

definitely not silver...just black there. Just some lighting and a bit of faded plastic.
