Default Coming to America

Hi all,
Can anyone fill me in on the SOPs Honda follows for prepping S2000s for shipment to the USA? Or, if such information exists elsewhere, might someone be kind enough to direct me to that site?

Specifically, I'd like to know the kinds of protective coatings, films, coverings, etc, that are used. Also, how are the cars transported from Tochigi to the port of departure - what port is that? - how are cars stored aboard ship, etc. How long is the voyage? Is San Diego the Port of Entry for all USA-bound S2000s?

Any bit of information or firsthand experience you might have regarding the S2000's journey from end of assembly line to dealer showroom will be appreciated very much. BTW, if anyone is contemplating forming a group tour of the factory, please count me in!
Thanks, Charlie

Just curious, junkie... Friend & I took delivery of our new cars same week. He bought sapphire Boxter S. His came flawless, w/mirror finish. My Berlina S2K had minor case of the swirlies all over the car, worst on hood. Dealer blamed truck driver, or someone along the delivery chain who carelessly cleaned the car. Not a huge deal, they're gone now. But it just made me curious about the delivery process. I'm always interested in "behind the scenes" info, like what happens at Disneyland after they boot the last customer for the day; you know, how they make sausage... that kind of stuff.

Your paint job will not be as good as your friends. But like every other complaint on this board, I'll just say the usual: All together folks, " The S2000 was not meant for that, this car was meant for the twisties and the track."

You will receive this remark for basically any future complaint you may have with the car from this board, trust me on this one.

Tho I wasn't expecting Porsche quality finish from Honda, I'm fairly impressed with my S's paint. I think my car's swirlies were the result of someone between the factory and the dealership being careless with a dustrag.

Thanks for the info, Bucwheat!
