Default Comparisons

I was wondering if anyone that owns an S2000 also has driven the new Lexus IS? Supposedly the new version has 306 horsepower with paddle shifters and a refined suspension. Does the S2000 still compete or are newer generations of sports cars pulling ahead in performance classes? Just interested in comparisons because they are priced fairly close.

about the part about the IS350 being a sports car.

The S2000 should be compared to similar cars (ie. 2-seat roadsters) like the 350Z roadster, Z4, Boxster, Miata or Solstice.

The IS350 should be as quick as the s2000, perhaps maybe even quicker to 60 mph with its torque.

Handling wise, the s2000 should easily take the cake.

Similar in 0-60 times (low 5s). The IS350 weighs 700 lbs more than the S2000.

You could easily compare the power/weight of a IS350 to a Mustang GT.

if you're comparing the IS300 to an S2000, you aren't comparing 2 sports cars.

you're comparing a luxury sport vehicle with a true sports car roadster.

I test drove the IS350 over the weekend. It's a completely different car than my S2000, it's a medium sized sedan compared to a light an nimble convertible sports car. If you want to have fun driving, get the S2000.

If you need a commuter car that can hold 4 people, the IS350 felt really good. My only knocks on it: no 6 speed manual option and the rear seats are really cramped. The power felt strong and the exhaust sound was pretty good. The interior materials were good quality and nicely designed. The exterior styling looks good to my eye. Around $38,000 without nav.
