Compliments from unusual places/people?
Yesterday I got a "Wow, awesome car!" compliment from a redneck hick good-ol-boy (~60 years old) driving a MOPAR Parts truck. He couldn't stop staring.
Anyone else get compliments on the S2000 from unsuspecting people (like Mustang owners?).

yes, but i also have noticed that i dont get comments while driving during the winter! i guess people dont want to roll down their windows to comment when it is cold.
and, of course, my top is down!
my fav compliment so far (only because it was very unexpected) was a little old lady who pulled up next to me to tell me "nice car"... have been getting too used to the attractive young ladies doing that i guess!!!

I get way more comments/questions when the top is down, what usually happens is I'll be sitting at a traffic light with the radio on,top down and I'll look to my left or right and someone will be saying something but because I've got the radio on I can't hear them and all I notice is their mouth moving while their looking at me(lovin the mute button)then it's just the "how do you like your car"..."what is it"..sort of questions.
Parked in the little tourist town of Solvang, CA, we came back to our car after eating breakfast to find two tourist families gathered around the front of the car staring at it. The two men (husbands/dads) of the group were discussing the technical merits, obviously they knew a bit about the car. We walked up and they were all ga-ga over it ("how do you like it?" etc.).
Of course, I have been guilty of this embarrassing behavior myself twice: once walking by 1Y2KS2K's house in the summer of 2000 and drooling over his white S2000 while he was washing it ... and the other walking in a parking lot and being passed by a silver one. I sped up so I could ask the guy "how do you like it, I LOVE the S2000..."

This happens a lot to me too. With the top down, a lot of people that are bored at lights seem to want to talk to me. They always compliment the car and ask me how it is.

Does a marriage proposal count? Last summer during the Woodward Dream Cruise weekend (Detroit Michigan), a girl in an old F-150 was ready to tie the knot just to be able to claim "partial ownership" to my car. Sadly, I had to pass though. Still I'll bet after a few drinks she would have looked better

Working at a college campus (Va Tech), the little kiddies drool in puddles on the sidewalk, but normally, it's wondering why a professor should be driving a car like an S2K. Funny, but when I had my 69 Camaro (since '71) I never had the same response.
TBrandon,
I must make a comment -- I'm a recent Tech grad (CpE), and I now own a silver 2001 S2000. I remember seeing a yellow one in Blacksburg, and I'll be damned if it didn't look just horribly out of place alongside the hundreds of beaters crusted over with road slag.
I only wish I could have bought the car BEFORE graduation, because it certainly would have helped with the snobby NoVA girls.
