Comptech Exhaust
Hey, all -
So I got ahold of a new comptech exhaust (perhaps one of the last on the board to say such a thing?
) and want to now how long it takes for an aftermarket exhaust to break in. The exhaust smells horrible, like my whole car is on fire, and while I know it's temporary, I'm hoping it's not going to last for weeks. My g/f smelled my car shortly after I installed it, and immediatly thought I had done something wrong. I told her it was normal, and she said (quite correctly), that my stock exhaust never smelled like that, and didn't understand why I would want to put something that smelled so bad on my car. I can't say I disagree with her - it's pretty bad. She told me that she would not get in the car again until the smell went away. So, anyone know how long it will be until I have her as a passenger again?
I love the look of the exhaust - the welds, etc, are top-notch. Sound is great too, although my mid-30's ears hope it drops a db or so with the break-in. I'm just afraid someone is going to turn a fire extinguisher on me while I'm waiting at a stop light...
Thanks!

usually a new exhaust takes anywhere from 250 miles to 500 miles to get rid of the smell in my experiences, just go through a full tank of gas on a nice drive tomorrow and you should be in the clear if not go through 2. good luck
