Default Comptech intake :)

Just wanted to say that I finally installed the Comptech ice box, and I couldn't be happier. The install was a bit of a nuisance, getting the box to fit and such...but in the end it was completely worth it. I also am not having any of the problems that other seem to have. No CEL's, no shaking, no weird noises, and the horn sounds fine. I really would like to make a DIY on it...although it's just an intake, a good DIY would save people so much time. It would have saved me hours, as I didn't have some of the tools that were required. For 2002 and later models (as many know) gettin the horn out and repostitioning it with the new bracket can be a pain. Also fitting the box is difficult because of the original horn bracket. That being said, I'm going to be taking the intake off and putting it back on.

Oh and one more thing, happy birthday to me !

I found the intake to be pretty strait forward on the install. The only issue was getting the actual box down by myself. The comptech instructions are fine (they come with and cane be found on their website). Yes, I too am happy with mine although there is some slight rubbing on the underside of my hood, which is to be expected.

Agreed, the box was very annoying to get it. My friend with a MY01 said it wasn't as hard for him, it just makes it harder for MY02+ with that horn

Many people use the Comptech to "drown" their fears of hydrolock.

Hold your applause please...

My guess would be none, or even losing some HP because it feels exactly the same.

I like mine as well but don't like how the hood prop is a pain to take out and put back in even after trimming the plastic piece as the instructions indicated.

What do you mean by that? I feel much safer with the Comptech, to be honest. When I took the AEM out, it sits right above the bumper. Of course I didn't know this because I bought my car with it. I liked the AEM a lot...it sounded great and looked great...but I decided to go with the Comptech.
