Default Comptech intake question...

Inside the air box my filter rubs the bottom/side of the box which in turns causes the filter to not hold its cone shape. Everytime I take my filter out to clean it, it looks like it has a dent in it on the top side. I have seen some filter/intake pics here and it seems like their comptech filter is longer/thinner and does not rub their intake box. What does you guys suggest? Anyone els here have this problem (if it really is a problem)? Anyone here with a comptech intake running a K&N filter (or other filter)? Let me know what you think... Thanks

I've got the Comptech CAI but I use the foam filter. Maybe you should try loosening the clamps and try changing the angle of the filter in the box.

I also am using the Comptech foam filter. I was mentioning the K&N because I was curious if anyone had switched to it. I have tried adjusting what you said but I will give it another shot. Anyone els with some ideas?

Interesting... I had a comptech CAI on my 03. I never had any problem with it. I noticed some rattling on spirited drives but that was fixed later by re-adjusting and tighten the CAI. You may want to experiment by re-aligning the CAI. Good luck.

I just got mine installed on a 03. The screws seem to be popping off. Have you had this problem? Also it is rubbing with the hood and leaving a white mark on the carbon fiber.

Aren't foam filters known for their poor filtering abilities? Not really sure, just curious.

I have taken the filter off and not seen any dirt on the inside of the filter or the pipe so I guess the foam filter fliters the air just fine. I dont have the problems with the screws. Any other ideas on how to fix my problem?

Considering that dirt bikes use foam filters, I'd guess they're pretty same for an S2000!
