Default Comptech SC questions

I know that this has been discussed at length but the search is being uncooperative and I don't want 2 year old posts. Has Comptech made any changes along the SC production run? Improvements? I have heard of a few dealers selling the SC with new cars and warranteeing the whole thing. Is this common?

Again, sorry for the repetition... thanks!

There have been no changes to the Comptech kit other than brackets that have been strengthened.

I've read threads mentioning dealers offering a warranty on the S/C, but have not confirmed it. I do know that the dealer made Wesmaster sign a waiver that voided certain parts of his warranty when they installed his S/C. Good look finding a dealer that is willing.

Let's hope that the search engine gets fixed...

When buying Copmtech products, you have an advantage over most aftermarket products - they have a deal with AHM that their parts can be warrantied through Honda dealership - those that carry and install those Comptech parts.

So, if you have an SC installed at the dealership, you can have it warrantied through the dealership.

MOST, and I do say MOST dealerships and customers understand that when you take your car in for warranty, i.e. - the MAP sensor went dead - you can be certain that it wasn't the SC that caused it. However, if you do get an SC, be forwarned that clutch replacemnts and rear end replacments will be frowned upon, until you open up your pocket book.

Oh, I forgot, I have one more question. What noise level does the unit have? I am not really a fan of "SC whine". Is the Comptech a quiet or loud SC?

The SC is pretty loud. I remember I took my car to the body shop to get my kit put on, and one of the mechanics there was like, " OMG, whats wrong with your car?".

I like the "SC whine". The only time you can really hear it (on my car, anyway) is at 35mph or slower doing a steady cruise (like driving thru a housing development or around a school). You can hear it as you accelerate, but just for a very short while until the engine noise drowns it out.

It does sound really cool combined with the comptech exhaust when you get on the gas in a parking garage

I don't know if it's common as far as the warranty but I live right down the street from Comptech and the Acura dealership hear offers full warranty on their cars with the Comptech SC. So it goes without saying that when they got a used S2000 on their lot with 11000 miles on it I had them throw on the SC and they said they would cover it. That's Niello Porsche Acura in Sacramento by the way and they do tons of business with Comptech. You should see some of the cars they have in their service bays. Some days you go up there and you get to watch one of the technicians doing donuts in a IRL or CART car. SWEEEEEET!
