Can you all go out to your cars and check your mounting brackets? The brackets are the black ones that mount the front plate (the one that says S2000 and carb certification) to the engine block. My bracket (if facing the engine, the one on the left) is cracked. The crack is close to the end towards the bolt that holds on the front plate. davepk originally had this problem a few weeks back, with the other side breaking. After taking his car to comptech, and getting it replaced the other side broke after a week of driving. We are thinking it might be the way it was installed since we both had them installed by the same company. In my car there are no tell tale signs of a broken bracket other than looking at the bracket itself. With dave's car he was getting a rattling around 3.5K that would go away after revving it up a little but would consistently rattle at 3.5K.

Please let me know if yours is OK or if it is broken.

By the way, I am hoping I would get some responses back before tomorrow AM. I am going up to Comptech and would like to let Shad know this is a unique problem or if this is a major issue. Right now, it is an isolated problem, just my car and davepk's.

No cracks that I can see. No vibrations other than what appear "normal" with the SC.

Mine was installed by a local Honda dealer.

Keith no cracks here, yet , and I'm not exactly what you might consider "easy on the equipment" either.

If it is an isolated thing, I can't imagine what the installer could or didn't do to cause the problem. Pretty straight forward deal

Good Luck

Nope, Not belt tension... Comptech, Keith and I figure that the right alternator bracket was tighten first then the VTEC bracket was tighten against the engine... thus squeezing the 2 brackets together resulting in their ultimate failure. Both of mine have since been replaced.
The first bracket of mine that broke was the alternator bracket. When it broke it was obvious by the rattle that their was something wrong but the break was almost imposible to see. Indeed, It was only when Comptech was in the process of swaping out the blower that the break became visible. However, when the second bracket(VTEC) broke the resulting crack was very obvious but there was no obvious rattle.

No cracks after 6500 miles, 1 track event, 1 solo event and about 6 months.

David, why was Comptech "swapping out the blower"?
Because of the rattle?

Yup, I brought the car in thinking there was something seriously wrong with the blower, And after Shad heard that noise and no one could see anything else wrong he dicided to swap the blower. It then became obvious there was a broken bracket while they were loosening the brackets to swap the blower.
