Default CompuStar on S2000

has anyone installed compustar on your s2k?
if so...what are the pros and cons of it?!?
does the auto start button still work because there is a remote auto start?

I agree 100% with jwkim although I have not tested the overall range myself.

The choice for me was between this alarm and the Viper. The Viper's range is significantly less (about 1/5th the range of the CompuStar.) The "user interface" on the CompuStar is not the best and I suspect the Viper is likely easier to get used to, but it's not a huge deal.

You can click the link in my sig for more details.

i found myself making the choice between the Clifford Matrix 2.5X and compustar. i think they're both excellent choices, but the clifford won out for one reason: the remote looks cooler. ya know, it's always the smallest things, isn't it?

btw, on the subject of alarms, you may also want to consider some kind of motion sensor if you'd like to leave your top down on quick trips to a store. that way, if someone reaches in, your alarm will be tripped. will it stop a thief? who knows ... but they won't wanna be near your car anymore.

and on remote start, i'd STRONG suggest not getting on. it's a stick. if you leave it in gear and try to start it, you prob just ran your car right into a wall as it jumps forward. i'm not sure if you can install some time of fail safe that will make it impossible to start in gear, but i know many installers won't install remote starts on sticks. and i have to agree with them.

I know it sounds archaic and old school; but does anyone use "the club" when the top is down if nothing more than a visual deterent

A thief would have to want it bad to hacksaw your steering wheel with the top down in clear view.

It's so retarded. I have autostart all the installer has to do is make sure that he installs it properly. It won't work if the car is in gear. Only in neutral, any installer worth anything can figure this out. Please don't say what if I have to park on a hill. Common sense says don't arm the auto start feature in that instance.
