A concern about a used S
The '01 S I am looking at is in great condition all stock, just turned over 17k miles, good price, the front tires look good and are s02's 205's. But what bothers me is that the rear tires are bridgstone expedia s03's in 225's. Now i have read a few posts about the oem 225 rear tire tire deal, I understand that. but maybe the dude who traded it in didnt and just slapped these smaller tires on there thinking it was the proper size?? on a side note, should i have caution buying a used one where the previouis owner went through the stock rear tires in 17k miles? any thoughts????
Well my opinion is that if your spending a good amount on the car you dont want to have any doubts whatsoever. Premature engine wear can show up later on in the future and slap you in the face. I think you should look around and be glad that you noticed it.

I wouldnt worry about the tire size issue. He was probably just uneducated about the issue and did whatever the tire salesman told him to do.
and 17k miles for the rear set is a good long life.

Well, i went back and looked at the car today, with no salesman hassle, got underneath the car with a flashlight, looked exceptional but the car has the oem front airdam, problem is it is a pretty scratched, so my question is, with the two new rear tires and a new airdam, would a that be a fair $1k discount to ask for on this car? i would look till i found a perfect one but there isnt many of these cars used here in knoxville. any thoughts on that?
The oem rears will run you about $320 for the pair installed. I'm not sure about the front spoiler. My guess is that many of the used s2000's will have some slight scratches there. The good thing is that the scratches are not very noticeable if you had to get under there with a flashlight....as it is very hard to notice the black scratche on a black car.
Always go higher than what you are expecting to have taken off the selling price. This will allow for some negotiating room. Good luck!

You'll scratch up the bumper yourself eventually, don't let that stop you from getting it... I'm sure a good 80% of the s2000's out there have scratches underneath... but definitely use it as a bargaining tool!!!
