I didn't even know the third light was different. Guess they tweaked a lot of little things with the '02.

Believe it or not, the 3rd brake light had to be "raised" to meet some safety standard. The 3rd brake light has to be within a certain distance from the bottom of the rear window. Since the '02 has glass which is smaller than the plastic from '00 & '01, the light was "raised".

okay - if there were ever going to be a trivial pursuit game this would be a major point making answer.

Believe me pvpd I'm not suggesting this is trivial! I am very impressed with that bit of knowledge. I believe you are correct because I remember reading something about the "distance below rear window" a long time ago about some other cars 3rd brake light.

JAZZEDS2K - the way it looked to me the whole in the trunk lid is the same, it is just the plastic "lens" that would have to be replaced!
