I was quoted $600 for a similar repair, but that included replacing bottom perforated leather, as there was a tear. At that cost, I could just buy aftermarket replacement seat covers with better leather than stock. Its quite a bit of work to diy, and does require some skill to come out decent. There are good diy videos.
But if its just scuffed up leather, there are places that can work magic on leather, at reasonable cost. Remove seat from car and bring to them will reduce costs.

Some people replace tbe plastic piecewith an aftermarket metal one. Supposedly gives slightly more precise shifts, as metal is stiffer.
I'm skeptical on how much difference it could make. Plastic actually has decent compressive strength, and there isn't much resistance in shifting to be compressing the bushing anyway.
But I've admittedly not driven a car with one equipped.
So perhaps the part didn't wear out, they just replaced it trying to do an upgrade.
