Default Confused regarding Chassis Numbers

Well, I placed an order for a brand new S2000. It is a 2007 model, and I have the CR alloys as well. Engine is the F20C, and the Chassis number starts with JHMAP11....

Question is the following: Is mine an AP1 or an AP2, what is the difference between them.

Thanks for all your help.

Welcome to the European confusion The consensus is that our cars are AP1 with DBW and AP2 body panels... if you'll search you'll get a lot of threads about this issue

So, if I ever want to order an aftermarket exhaust or header, I should specify AP1, I guess.

While it doesn't make sense for Honda to be making the AP1 and AP2 chassis at the same time (same basic thing, just some tweaks all around), especially when they're all built in the same place, the vin number says it's an AP1.

When did they change the JAP Vin to AP2? Was it with the new engine?

I'm not sure they did change JDM VINs... they still get F20c as does EUDM, so they should be AP1 as well

I thought the F20C went away worldwide? At least 2 model years ago? We American "pigs" (wink wink) begged for more torque and got it in '04 with the F22C, but the rest of the world kept the F20C.

As I understood it, the original motor was then removed from the line 2 years later - meaning in '06.

Hmmmmm. I am now anxiously awaiting the explanation.

BTW, I LOVE my 9K motor.
