Default Conrero Seat Belt Pads

For the truly pretencious....

Actually, I am trying to save wear and tear on the rather thin leather on our $6-7K Recaro's so I wanted some seat belt pads and from past experience, knew Conrero made a pair that seemed to be a perfect match for my suzuka blue interior. I ordered a silver carbon fiber dash kit (en route) to offset the blue and felt the surface of the Conrero's would be a perfect fit. The pads force the belt off of the seat when not in use so they do a very good job cutting down on the wear and tear of that area. They came in the mail and as you can see, seem to be a great color match. Heck, even my girl loves 'em. $40/pair but worth it. When the dash kit arrives, the all-blue interior should be spiced up nicely. The Momo silver carbon fiber shift knob convinced me that silver cf is the way to go for this color interior. Anyways....here's two pics. High res is best to view the pads.

While they do look nice and match the interior nicely, I can't help but wonder if all you've done is just change the material that's rubbing against the seat rather than remove the rubbing altogether.

Lude. No, though the pics might indicate that. The bulk of the pad reduces the amount of fabric that is rubbing against the leather when the seat belts are not in use. Only the first inch or so of the pad is making contact with the seat. You can see that with the pad on the passenger seat. My driver's pad was not pushed up fully prior to the pic being taken but normally, it goes up all the way and that forces the pad off the leather. If you look at an OEM set-up, you'll see about 5-6-inches of seat belt laying up against the leather corner whereas with a pad, the amount of rubbing is reduced significantly. I noticed on my spyder when I put Momo pads on there, the rate of wear decreased significantly. Certainly not the intention of the product, but a pleasant side benefit nonetheless. The quality of this leather being used in my opinion, is not befitting a $33K vehicle so anything I can do to protect it (other than my weekly leather conditioning) is ok.

I've had the seat belt rubbing problem and had the top skin of the drivers seat replaced because of it. Now the passenger side is rubbing and the creaking noise is very annoying.

As a result I've produced 'Epaulets' that mount under the seat belt guide and protrude over the lip of the seat. The belt now rubs on them instead. I've also produced seat belt pads but not for the purpose of stopping rubbing (although, why not).

If you look closely in this picture you can just see the Epaulet under the seat belt guide.
