You won't get the thump if you hold the clutch a few seconds for the midshaft to spin down before putting it into gear.

AP2 is the better car for everyday driving, not so say that AP1 is bad.

VSA will save your ass in difficult situations that do come up no matter how experienced, careful or educated you are.

To disengage the VSA on my 2004 TSX you just click the button but on our 2010 RDX you actually have to hold the button in for a second or two for it to turn off.

VSA will save your ass in difficult situations if you are driving like an idiot.

And honestly, the tiny AP2 bump in torque has IMHO always been over rated
And before someone tries to turn this into an AP1 Vs AP2 thread let me just say don't
AP1 is not like AP2, some prefer 1, some prefer 2, to each their own, respect the difference
Triple-H, I totally agree. We should respect our preferences and differences.

AP2 consistently puts down more power on dyno tests, and the man who designed our cars says the AP2 is the better car.

Then again, to each his own. We can agree to disagree.

AP1 was definitely a good draft.

I've owned an '02 AP1 and now I have an '08 AP2. I'd never own an AP1 again after living with the AP2.

I think you have that backwards.

One thing MANY people overlook, or fail to grasp, is the sum of the changes made in 2004.

Its not just a power bump, its moving the power curves down 1,000 rpm, so you have power sooner. Its revising the cams so you have more power before VTEC and smoother transition. Its revising the drive ratio for more squirt to help amplify the power band changes. Its about taking what was a peaky car and spreading the power out more evenly so its more usable and livable.

1,000% agree which is why I suggested the OP at least tries an AP1
With the higher rev you are in VTEC longer and the sound is awesome
With the AP1, you have to be in VTEC to make power, with the AP2, you have more power sooner, so you don't have to be in the top third of the rev range to get the go. Yes, the sound of 9k is awesome, but it can be annoying having to wind up the car to get to the power band, especially in day to day. AP2 is the better car for driving, not to so say that AP1 is bad.
