Default Considering buying an AP2

Hey, I'm kinda new here.

I'm looking to pick up an 04 AP2 used as a weekend car.

Is there anything I need to look out for specifically with this car when shopping used? Or any other advice you guys can give?

Much thanks,

-James

Yup, look for one that has a front bumper that looks like this... they feel a lot more like a go cart than the other bumper style, and their redline is a lot higher, the steering feels better, and well... they are just the shiz... they are called AP1

P.S. They get your adrenaline pumping a lot more frequently too with the butt end scooting around a corner

Check the top inside for wear or holes. Also the left lumbar of the driver seat.
Test shifting into second gear at different rpms/speeds (grinding).
Test drive with the top up and radio off to listen for excessive gear wine, especialy after the car has warmed up.

Just check to make sure everything works fine, just like how you would check any other car. Make sure there are no holes in the top.

Hmmm ... otherwise, nothing much?

2003 was the last year for the AP1. The change in 04 was less than radical.
The engine doesn't rev as high (8200 vs 9000).
The 04 has more low end torque.
THe 04 has a couple of more ponies.
The 04 front bumper and lights are different.
The 04 wheels went from 16" to 17's.
THe 04 suspension is a little softer.
A few other very minor changes. There's no real advantage to owning an AP1 over an AP2.

You don't want any gear grinding from a warm tranny or strange noises coming from the diff. I strongly suggest a compression test. Do yourself a favor and have a mechanic look it over. The car is very reliable so long as it has not been overreved and/or starved for oil.
