Consumer Reports on the S2K
Just received the latest Consumer Reports which is the auto issue.
They had a section on the best of and listed the S2000 as the most fun car. The S2000 also got their recommended checkmark and received a perfect score for the 2000 MY in all listed categories. While they also raved about the Boxster in the brief write-up, they did not give it the recommended checkmark. The Spyder was also a recommended vehicle they liked very much.

To be honest there really is nothing there of substance that is worth posting. It is just a combination of blurbs from various parts of the magazine which is dedicated to all cars. However, here is what they said under "Top Pics for 2001":
MOST FUN TO DRIVE: Honda S2000
An uncompromised rear-drive roadster, the S2000 offers power, pinpoint handling, and tenacious tire grip.
Ok, while I am at it, they do write a small blurb for all cars and here is the blurb they wrote for the S2000 as the mini-review. It is written next to the clear choice color winner, silver/red.
This rear-drive roadster is pure, uncompromising sports car. Its 2.0-liter Four delivers 240 hp without turbo- or supercharging. A 9,000-rpm redline also makes it the fastest-turning engine in any conventional car. The powerplant sounds exhilarating when revved, and it's complemented by a crisp-shifting six-speed manual transmission. Handling is precise, and grip is outstanding. But the ride is hard and noisy, and the engine needs to be pushed hard for maximum performance, making this model more enjoyable on a race track than it is for everyday driving. First-year reliability for the S2000 has been excellent.

CR tested the S2000 in August, 2000. Rave review from the most objective consumer magazine out there. They timed the S2000 to 60 in 5.6 and did the quarter in 14.4 seconds. CR did not post its testing methods, but in the past, they always used off idle launch for manual and automatic transmission cars in their acceleration tests.

The S2000 is probably rated so well because I was the only owner around who actually filed out their survey for the S2000 and turned it in lol! Of course it received excellent checks in all.
