Default convertible top cover won't fit?

I have tried every which way to snap my top boot over the top, but it seems like the top isn't going down far enough. LI lack about two inches from snapping without forcing it down. I actually did force the cover down those two inches and did get it snapped, but I had a heck of a time getting it back off. Any help here would be appreciated.

I got 10 bucks saying that the elastic straps that are supposed to pull a bar back under itself when you lower the convertible top aren't working. When your top is 1/2 way down, just reach behind your head and push the bar backwards that is closest to you. Your top will fold more flat, and your boot will go on no problem.

I've never used my top boot. I pretty much don't even need it.

Danm, that was perfect! You hit the problem RIGHT on the head! I just went out and tried it, and sure enough, the elastic doesn't resemble elastic much. I'm impressed, thanx.
Sooo, where do i send the 10 bucks??? LOL
great job!

I'll bet that is also what caused the two tears on either side too. I wished I would have discovered it sooner.

What I meant, is that I wished I would have gotten matfeet's advice sooner.

Most likely did.

How about any known somewhat-permanant repairs for the ripped top syndrom??? Matt??? It would be well worth 10 bucks, haha.
