A few viper owners even own S2000's. Some even use it as their "beater" car. Any of you guys here?

Having driven both on track, they share many of the basic traits that we expect of a well tuned performance car. They both are well balanced and a lot of fun to drive. The Viper just has MORE of everything; grip, torque, speed, brake fade, fuel consumption. The Viper's corner EXIT speed is just incredible. I expected it to power oversteer like crazy, but it didn't. Those huge rear tires and big rearward weight transfer keep it in check. I turned laps around Mid Ohio 5-6 seconds quicker in the Viper than my S2000. I think that speaks pretty well for the S2000. The Viper is not as precise as the Honda, but with that kind of power, you don't have to be very precise! I would compare the S2000 to a scalpel; the Viper is a big ass sledgehammer!

The engine comparisons are interesting. The Dodge has about 56hp per liter. S2000 is more than double that! Imagine if Honda built an 8.0 liter VTEC engine; it could have about 1,000 hp! The Dodge has enough torque to rotate the earth at 2,000 rpm; the S2k has enough to screw in a light bulb at 8,300 rpm.

Although I like the Viper, if I had $80,000 lying around I'd still buy an S2000 and bank the rest. I guess I'm a true Honda geek.
