Corsa Performance Exhaust test drive
After seven and a half years of ownership, and a few appearance mods, I decided to finally do a few minor performance mods this past winter. I added an Invidia v3 exhaust, Berk test pipe, and APEXi AFC Neo. These mods provided a net gain of 20.0 hp and 11.4 torque.
I chose the Invidia based on feedback from other owners, and a few test rides in their cars. I really liked the sound, and thought that I could handle the drone.
On the way home from Wake the Dragon, my wife asked to make a stop due to a headache. She came out of the drugstore with a package of earplugs!
What a trooper. She didn't ask me to get rid of the exhaust. She didn't even hint at it. But I was sharing her frustration.
Monday, I called Corsa Performance Exhaust in Berea, OH to ask if they happened to have an exhaust for the S2000 on the drawing board. I knew that they had been testing one on one of the Mid Ohio school cars, because my brother-in-law had been doing some Dyno testing for them. They invited my wife and I out for a test drive. I took about a nano-second to reply.
I let my wife have the first ride, and as she was leaving and arriving back, the car had a beautiful growl. She was grinning from ear to ear as she got out of the car. My turn was just what I was hoping for. Agressive sound when you asked for it, mild sound when you cruise, and NO DRONE!
Corsa is very well known in the Corvette and Viper communities as a great high performance product that is also very civilized.
Now for the best part. They need a street-driven car to evaluate a pre-production prototype. (Oh, darn.)
What I plan to do is re-Dyno the car pre-install, again after install, and again after installation of the Berk HPC coated header that I have on order. I'm hoping that we can get this put together in time for the Southeast Supermeet in June.
I'll keep you posted.
