you get what you pay for there's a very big different in terms of material, labor, level of finish and prep taken. just because they ask fore less doesn't mean you are getting a better deal or more out of this deal.

for example:

material: you probably will not get mid/hi grade paint with that, the painter off a mobile trunk shoot paint with clear mixed it, will he calculate the proper amount of reducer in the paint? probably not.

labor: the paint is good as good as the prep, if you wondering why the new paint peels off after you wash you car? the painter probably didn't even sand the car at all or put any primer/sealer on the metal.

level of finish: if i am not making money of a deal, i am not going to spend 10 hour preping the car, simple as that. overspray, runs, non-even filling, single lay clear, you name it.

i know you are not bring it a macco, you get what you pay for, i wouldn't do it unless you have personal connection for complete paint job for under 2k.

first, if they mess up, you have to drive the eyesore everyday, second, you can't sell a ugly sport car with a good price.

good luck

2500 should be a hooked up price by a friend, 5000 is fair.
I see paint jobs all day long, and yes it really is all about the prep and finishing.
Have to make sure all the necessary parts are taken off, sanded down, $5000 jobs should also include taking out minor dents and imperfections as well, paint needs to be mixed, spray booth must be clean or the painter will have to wet sand it afterwards, all this takes a lot of time.
In the end, the stock paint job will always be the best in terms of durability. Our cars are blessed with pretty good paint jobs from teh factory, minimal orange peel, minimal fading over the years, however it is a bit thin in the front.

Show teams usually pay $3g from M1 for a full color change.

The more labor that goes into the paint process usually means its more expensive. My little brother just had his car shot like the OP and he paid $700 for it but the quality is not that great. its a 5ft car at the best.

dyhppy, I have a painter that shot my whole car for $1500. pm me if you want his info.
