Could this be any MORE complicated?!
Geezus! I got my side strakes replaced under warranty (they wanted to charge 499 dollars for them!
) ... I didn't have the time, nor the inclination, to let the clowns at the dealer install them. So now, I have a mess of screws, bolts, clips and other miscellany laid out in front of me with no instuctions or anything!
Does anyone had clue number one as to how these damn things are supposed to attach to the car?!
Man, if they didn't drill those freaking holes in the side, I would have ditched the stupid things a long damn time ago!
I am competing in a car show tomorrow and I can't have these gaping holes in my car and win!
HELP!

Are you going to that event at Harper College? I hope this rain clears out of here by tomorrow, so you can have a decent show whereever you're going. I hope you're getting the strakes on OK, now that James helped you with that link. Good luck!

Stevens......those holes are speed holes! Leave them don't cover them. They help in air flow around the car. You could put some in your hood too works fantastic! Plus it reduces weight.

Well, here's the "rest of the story" ...
You know how much I love Honda dealers
... well the yahoos at the dealer I got my car(s) (two S2000's AND my 4Runner) installed the strake improperly on the passenger side. They drilled the hole in the wrong place (a little off, I made it work) but they used a screw where there was supposed to be an entirely different type of mounting mechanism!
I had to get real creative. Then they used these pads to protect the surface of the paint in the wrong freaking place! Man, this (and a host of other things) just makes me shake my head in wonderment at the sheer incompetence that runs rampant at this particular dealer's service dept....it's astounding.
Anyway, I was able to make it work and it looks fine. But making it work involved two trips to the hardware store...
CarCrazy, yes, I'll be going to the TCL show, weather permitting. I just applied yet another coat of Zaino, cleaned the wheels/tires (
) and primped the engine compartment. I'm planning on winning the show, btw...
I'm betting the weather will be OK by tomorrow, but if it's raining, I'll have to forego my 5 foot tower trophy and 200 bucks and let someone else have it...make sure to come by and say hello if you come out!
Johnnyboy, isn't that the truth? Makes me do this ----->
Pinky, why didn't you say something about that before?!
Side strakes=PITA. I still can't believe the dealer wanted to doink me for 500 dollars for these damn things. I still can't believe there are something like 40 pieces involved in getting these stupid things to attach. The way they have done it is an engineering marvel, unfortunately it's a BAD engineering marvel!
