Default CR has a short throw shifter?

Honda s2000 specifications for 2009 list a short throw direct shift linkage on the CR.

I wasn't aware they did that, anyone have any info on it?

the direct linkage is the same for cr & standard s2000. the shift lever was reduced 12.6mm for a shorter throw and shift load effort was increased by 10 percent for more driver feedback when engaging a gear.

I thought it was just the knob that created the shorter throw and increased shift effort. It's shorter and is lighter than the regular knob.

The shift lever is the same. The part numbers are the same. The reduced shift throw is from the knob. Even in the Honda's dealer kit it says "Short Throw shifter" but Honda Parts numbers are the same.

this is good news as I just ordered a moddiction now and to me it looks very similar to the CR knob except that it has a brushed finish and is a little heavier. they both seem to lower the shifter about an inch, can't wait.

Like jc posted, it's lower by about 12mm and it is only due to the CR shift knob. The CR knob is actually lighter than the OEM stock S knob and it does have better feel with a small sacrifice in smoothness.
