Default Cr and Type-S (Rear Upper Tower Brace Diff?)

Rear Upper Tower Brace
The soft top must be removed in order to use this on the US CR.

Can we assume that the Type-S in Japan is identical to the CR with the exception of the Rear Upper Tower Brace, Hardtop and T. Cover?

Let's hear some inputs

If the Best Motoring video is correct, then the TypeS should merely have USDM 2008 Base model's shocks and springs. I don't have the link, but I remember seeing that the rate increase in spring/shock combo doesn't look like it's a CR-treatment. The TypeS also does not use the RE070 tires on the CR, and uses RE050 tires.

However, the video claimed that the front and rear sway bars are the same on the JDM TypeS -- which I highly doubt it. So I'm not sure whether the video got the spring/shock specs right on the TypeS.

Is the soft top the only thing that prevents it from being installed?

Looking at the photo, I think I saw some welded brackets...

According to Hardtopguy, that's the only thing

S2000 Type S has a different suspension component, it is designed for mountain road driving. I could be wrong but it does not use the same suspension component of the regular 2008 S2000. I remembered reading this on widingroad.com or some other sites. I will convert my car to cr spec but I have to buy the steering ratio gear (only in ap2) to make this right. Big $$$ and installation, you can have cr coilover set, steering stiffner, front and rear sway bar. Without the steering ratio gear set, it will not be performed at optimum.

I'm curious if this would get in the way of the mounting position of the Cusco/Safety21 Rollbar.

I'm thinking hardtop people with removed softtop could use the rear brace then. Most of us have upgraded suspension, wheels, tires, etc that could easily use the stiffener.

Comments?

Hardtop guy is wrong if he says its just a plug and play item . To run the brace you would need to weld on brackets to the top of the towers and drill a hole in the center of them.

I really wanted to run that bar but it looks to be more trouble than its worth. If you know how to weld it should be somewhat easy. I dont think you can run a rear tray with it either.

I compared my trunk with the CR at the Logic Motorsports meet side by side.
