damn, that sucks...glad nobody was hurt. i worked at a tire shop during college, and learned that you often get what you pay for.

Terrible news, sorry to hear of this mishap. I know it breaks your heart, but it's nothing that can't be fixed.

It wasn't just the poor adhesion of the rear tires, it was the combination of tires that caused the bad oversteer. Grippy front tires and worn rear tires is the most dangerous combination.

You can demonstrate the effect with one of those tiny R/C cars that is RWD. Take the rubber off the front plastic wheels, and you can still steer the car, it'll understeer, but it's still manuverable. Then, put the front rubber back on, and take off the rear rubber. Now, it oversteers so badly, it'll throw the rear around easily.

It's scary to see stuff like that happen, especially at events when there are so many people around. I was very glad to see that you guys were alright and the damage to the car was pretty superficial.

thanks for the comments guy's....I will be having an adjuster coming to my house in the next day or two to tally up a check for me, so my s' will be back in running order in no time...It's drivable now...Now I have the delima of which bumper, other aftermarket stuff to buy to replaced the damaged OEM stuff

^ that's a good point...Honestly the irony of the situation is that these off brand tires are called "aqua flow" And I hydroplaned into a mountain at a conservative speed, False advertisement is a bitch

HOLY SHIT!!!! THIS ESTIMATE IS HUGE!!!


Man, I just got the estimate from the adjuster ! It added up to be $6,945.28 !...Damn...and the guy said whenever I get the code ran (check engine light on) that they will write me another check to get whatever it is (air pump) fixed also
