this is actually better than it looks. the car is absorbing all the energy from the impact. s2k is very safe car...

 

i got in a head on collision with an SUV when i was going about 40mph (wasn't my fault) and my feet were untouched the inside of the car wasnt scrunched back. there was fluids on on my dashboard tho lol but yeah it showed me this car can deffinitly take the impact for you

 

I wonder what the data from that impact says?

you can see that the windsheild doesnt move. that means the firewall was untouched. thats good. the long nose of this car helps asborb alot of impact. the car is built the absorb as much energy as possible and divert it around the passengers.

btw I got into a 55mph crash into a suzuki XL7 and I was driving a daewoo lanos. small front end the car got demolished but the interior was not affected. pretty amazing

 

Now what if we were hit on the side? I now the S has an X frame design but I doubt the S could take a hit on the side or is it reinforced somehow? im just wondering out of curiosity because it always get me mad when ever I talk to someone about my car and right away they try to bash me on how terrible the car would do in a crash and well of course its not gonna walk away like a truck/suv nor do I think it will RIP like a corvette, where they literally just cumble up like a can

The side hit doesn't look pretty, but they said it's a better outcome than it looks.

That video looks really safe actually. I don't see anything move back at all that would go to the cabin. Nice long engine compartment really helps absorb the impact nicely!

 

To date the S2000 has one of the best crash ratings for any open top car. Honda went as far to give it one of the best roll over ratings, even while the IISH didn't require it.
