Default craving to drive

is there any other car that you HAVE DRIVEN in the past, whether a buddy's or on a test drive (not one you dream of driving) that you crave to drive more than the S? if so, why?

I've never driven anything nicer than an S2000. I've driven both an RX-8 and a 350Z, but I liked the S2000 more than either one.

'02 Porsche GT2, Ferrari 355, and a '04 MB SL55AMG...actually, I'm happier with my car than the AMG but the GT2 and 355 was AWESOME!!!!

I've been test driving the Caymen / Caymen S and have been bitten by the bug. First off, I love the styling!! During redline driving around curves I keep saying Boy would I love to have this at the track. Is it worth almost double the cost of my S2000? That's a tougher question to answer than I thought it would be. Normally I'd say Hell no; but I got to really push it on this last test and I was blown away by the feedback, handling, and confidence level it instantly builds. I also love the cockpit comfort - adjustable up & down & telescoping steering wheel, adjustable seats, etc. I felt the car adapt to me rather the other way.

regarding the comfort issue, it's true that you either fit into the s2000 or don't. if you don't i can imagine it would be pretty hard to get used to it and the cayman is prob a better choice, albeit expensive.

the boxster s is my 2nd fav car to the S. it was fun, but im suprised you say it gives more feedback since i felt the exact opposite. the car felt soft, removed and not as involving as the S, but a great car.

I drove a nicely restored early-70s 246 Dino that my neighbor owned. Loved it. Pedal feel was quite different from the S, but in many ways the concept of the car, overall, is similar. Such a car is out of reach for me, though, and I wouldn't want to have to maintain it.

Of modern-era cars, I would love to drive a Carrera GT, but doubt I'll have a chance.

The Caymen is more than a Boxster with a tin top. I know that's simple brush off some give it. Try one and if your lucky you'll get a salesman who will let you wring it out. I actually retraced the curves, etc. in my S2000 immediately after my test drive.
