Thumbs down Cricking Noise on takeoff

Lately, whenever I am riding around, just normal daily driving, I have been hearing a creaking sound like metal to metal creaking sound coming from the driver side of the rear end or maybe the half shaft splines. I haven't but my car on jacks to investigate yet, but has anyone had this occurance?

Could this be the symptoms of a failing half shaft? CV boot? diff?

any opinions are truly appreciated

Never noticed this on my S but I did have a TR4a many years ago that not only clicked but at times gave a detectable bump especially on tight turns from a standstill and possibly on uneven surfaces.
For the TR4, this was a normal trait of the LSD.

Dont let that noise get to bad, cause if it does it will end up ruining your hub assembly, if its the same noise Im thinking about.

Happened to me.

Does it make that sound from a standstil, and when you go or reverse it makes like a little clicking noise ?

on a trip a while back in my 03, long highway drives, i started to get this. honda retorqued the axle nuts and it went away....but from then on, i still got a pop/click form the rear right on take offs and right turns while on the gas. i'm sure there was some damage done to the hub and bearing. never changed it though, ended up trading it in. good luck

does the nut have a cotter pin installed on them from the factory?

oh, the sound happens when I'm rolling from a standstill, sometimes it has the same sound in reverse

no cotter pin. the top(rim) of the nut gets creased into a spot in the axle spline.
