Cruising at 2k RPM
Ok I don't mean to start another topic craving for how to save gas.
Yesterday after installing K&N FIPK with a great help from my experienced friend, I told him about my fuel efficiency and he said I might be cruising at a too high rpm. I do my shifting at recommended shifting point but it seems like I cruise at too high rpm. I drive 60~70km (37~43 miles/km) at 3rd gear going 4~5 rpm sometimes. I was amazed when my friend was test driving my s2k driving 60km at 5th gear and at around 2~3 rpm. He said driving at such low rpm will use much less gas and as long as the car is running smooth and does not start boggle there's no problem running at such low rpm. Is this true?
oh btw I like my new intake, and sounds much better than before.

When the car is just loafing along 2K should be fine. Just don't expect lightning acceleration if you stomp on the throttle w/o downshifting a couple O' gears.

Ohh... yea he was downshifting a lot whenever he needed to accelerate. I wish I could shift so smooth and revmatch like that. Gotta prac more. Thanks a bunch for the replies.

ps: u will definitely feel heat soak with ya FIPK when
u stay still in a traffic. its like the throttle isnt responding properly, but once you get moving, 5 sec after will be ok.

i use 2k on the tach as a minimum, ususally i am in a higher rev band than 2k, but can cruise all day there.....so i go to 6th at 45 mph as example except when climbing up a hill or trying to merg on the freeway, then i downshift. no need to wind the engine out in every gear all the time.

i usually curse around 3.5-4k rpm @ 35-40 mph thats gives you the gas/power combine, i shift up to 5th once it go over 43-45 mph, just my opinion, i dont think our car wants to "GO" even cursing @ 2k RPM so i never drive my car with that low of an rpm unless i roll from a start or up hill
