Curious, what would cause an s2k to spin out of control?
Yep, Doing 120 kph on a rainy highway, 25000 km on my bald tires. I slowed down for what appeared to be standing water, let of the break say 20 feet before it started and held the wheel straight, the back end slowly drifted to the right, countersteering did nothing, as my fronts seemed to skim across the water, and pulled a nice spin down a major, yet thankfully, light trafficed highway.
What caused it? Tires for one, but beside that, I have no idea. I swear this car has a tendancy towards the right.
I think there was even a discussion about it here somewhere, when kicking the back end lose.
I know when my tires were new, I felt like superman in the rain, now? I don't risk it.
theres my story, and I was just gonna make a smart ass comment instead

Any idea where I could find the thread to the back end spinning out? I'm new to the boards right now.
A couple of weeks ago I spun out too, felt pretty dumb, so I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one =)
It had been raining, it stopped for a couple of hours and the ground was still wet, but I never thought I'd spin out. I was at a red light and decided I would redline it. As soon as I threw the car into second gear I lost it =(
Not sure, but I think the back end lost traction and my car(I think) did a 360 and ended up in the opposite lane of traffic. Thankfully the traffic in front of me saw me spinning out and all of them had stopped for the next 300 feet in front of me. I think I did a 360, I'm not even sure because it was all like a blur, all I know is that I ended up facing traffic in the opposite lane and nothing happened. I haven't redlined since.
I asked because I don't want it to happen again, I'm guessing it was the wet floor the made me spin out?

Red line after it's been raining....well you are obviously a "new" driver to anything high performance. Let me give you a lesson since I spent 30 years in California driving high performance cars. When it rains it leaches all the oils up out of the pavement. Even after it "dries out" you will spin...and spin...and spin.......
Redlining with any moisture anywhere is not very smart.

Doing a track day at Portland International Raceway in the pouring rain with original SO-2s with 18,000 miles. After the apex to turn 9 while unwinding the wheel, I got on the power a little too abruptly; might have hit VTEC. Rear end started to come around; countersteering while staying on the throttle didn't help. Did about a 270
