Current AP2 value? Update post production trend.
I started this thread in Australia (copied below) and then thought why not the rest of the world, any volunteers in helping keep our S 2000 alive FOREVER and maybe just maybe be around to see it become a "classic".
Will there ever be a return to demand for the S 2000? Like other collector models out there?
Will this thread reveal the trend whereby one can spot the collector market trending upwards?
Will you be "pissed off" because you let her go and sold her too cheap?
I actually know someone whom sold his GTHO Phase 3 for under $10k now worth $50-100k (I think), and another whom sold their beachfront Hedges Ave. for a million (now worth 3 million)
If only they had an internet forum to follow and could spot the future unfolding.
I would love to see this thread active in years to come like so many other fantastic threads from this forum, resurrected after years through "search".
AUSTRALIA UPDATE:
Seems as though AP2 are becoming scarce, with only 2 currently on carsales.com.au.
Price ranging from $50k MY05 private to $60k MY06 dealer. These have been on the market for a month, 2 previous AP2's went within a week for $45 ish I think from memory.)
Just wondering if for instances sake, you had the funds for, and were looking for an AP2, disregarding colour choice (as this is limited) and lets say for arguments sake under 50k km. and in excellent condition.
What would you be willing to pay to get one.? Call this, just an exercise in gaining some sort of consensus from you the S2000 enthusiast and to answer my current curiosity, (also kill some time thru Easter...LOL) thanks for ur feedback.

Maybe prices in Australia are going up certainly not in the US. Prices have gone waaaay down steadily! I don't ever see it going up at all unfortunately.
Not sure of the currency conversion from there to here but MY05 with like 50k or so miles probably go for around 16k or so here. '04's for like 15k or so.

I don't see S2000s that are in good condition with under 80k miles ever going for under ~$10k in the US. It's a very reliable, fun, nice looking car without excessive production numbers, so it will have a higher-than-usual floor in its value. High mileage vehicles will be worth less, but the 'who cares, it's a honda' mindset will keep mileage from ever really destroying the value. Of course, trashed, broken/needing repair, accident damaged, and bad title vehicles might be worthless.
I think a rise in value will eventually happen, but not for several decades in the US. There are more than enough cars to go around right now. The one exception is that I could see a CR with under 10k miles holding it's 2-3 year depreciated value indefinitely, so long as it never sees miles. That would be a rare enough car and mileage combination to warrant a premium price. And if indeed the S2000 becomes a collectible--many decades away IMO--I would expect stock, low mileage CRs and MY99-MY00 cars to be the most desirable.

Well it's discontinued now? And there aren't anymore RWD setups in Honda's lineup anymore. I don't think it will go up in value, but I think it will depreciate slower. Especially since this car has been proven to be amazing on many levels.
This is why I wanted to pick up a Supra so bad. It would essentially be a free ride. That car depreciates so slow. KBB values a 97 TT 6speed with 50k+ miles at $35k private seller and it sold for $45k brand new off the lot in 97.

We have only 1 NFR MY07 with 0km for sale advertised at $88,888 aud though.... but hasn't sold in months that I've seen advertised. We generally think is overpriced and should be discounted..

In this forum, I always read all the old threads that are revived from the dead, if they date back far enough, there is always a trend that I end up spotting...... eg. modding trends over the years like say 05 can be very different to today/ this month '10, and that's only 5yrs. what will become of our production discontinued S?
1 yr out interest hasn't seemed to have dwindled, if anything may have been reborn.
