Default Cusco/JDM roll bars.

ok, im getting a cusco 4pt. cage. and yes its just for looks. some may call me a ricer or JDM fanboi, but really who gives a kcuf.

what im interested in knowing is:

are there any REAL beneies of these cages? if i flip my s2k somehow is the cage going to do anything? and if their not SCCA cert'd, are the cert'd in Japan and just not the us? cusco makes cages for almost all JDM applications, but yet so many bash them.

what are your guy's thoughts.

i ordered a cusco/safety21 6 pt roll cage w/ harness bar from invision a couple of weeks ago, and waiting for it to come in. i don't think that it's approved for scca/auto-x (but correct me if i'm wrong). it helps stiffen the chassis bit from what i've read. but i get it just for looks. :-p

from experience the 4 point made the car a little bit stiffer. I rely on the oem roll protection to protect me in the event of a roll over. I've never seen anyone that ever rolled their car with a cusco cage so I would not be able to tell you if they will fail in the event of a roll over. Common sense would lead one to believe that if GT races in japan allows use of this cage in their races it does work. I personally will again put this in my car for peace of mind but thats just me.

There has been threads stating the 6 point will slice your head straight off if were to roll over. It is highly un-recommended for street use. It is only used in racing for chassis stiffness + they wear helmets.

how strong can a cage be that is bolted together with grade 5 equivelent bolts.

Other cusco parts don't really work, more for looks IMO.
