Lately we've been giving a lot of thought to the issue of the stock S2000 key and how it can be inexpensively modified to be cutomized for an S2000 (it's basically a standard Honda key head with the immobilizer inside). Some of you, including us, have the JDM key, which is very expensive amd requires much work to swap out the immoblizer. Plus the center piece scratches and looks like hell in a very short time. We have looked into titanium keys like those on the NSX, but the cost of those is prohibitive and the immobilizer becomes a big issue.

Now we think we have a solution, what we call key S badges. We are now working with our S badge manufacturer to develop small, thin S badges that will fit perfectly into the indented area of the stock key head. The badges will be made to match the color options available for our S body and wheel badges, so you'll be able to match the key to the color of your car or your S badges, if you have them.

This will be a very durable, inexpensive solution that will eliminate the immobilzer problem and be very easy for owners to install.

Below is a very crude Photoshopped image of what a red on black key badge might look like.

We should have a rough idea of cost early next week. Our hope is to keep a set of key badges in the range of $10 - $15.

Comments on this idea are welcome!

Just heard back from the manufacturer. Happily, they say this will work. Production estimates and prices will be available next week.

No need to sign up. We'll produce enough of these to meet demand without any waiting lists.

Put me on the list.

On a side note... Any word on the Valentine holding visor modification? (I saw something about it on some of the valentine mounting threads.

key badges... Cool! Certainly easier than the JDM key swap. I'll buy a set of suzuka blue for all my keys.

Photoshop image top. It's not very good, but does provide a rough idea.
