But that is SO overdone. I mean, it would have been cool back in 2000 or 01 when nobody knew what the car was or what it redlined to, but now, everybody already knows it revs that high. It's like you're trying to cling on to something that died out years ago. The "newness" of the car has passed.

imo

HLYSHFT is a cool idea. someone else on these boards tried it but didn't pass because they spelled out HOLY. You could try just spelling like I did there and that might work.
I love this one!!!

Tho I don't go in for vanity plates myself - my driving is a little on the agressive side so I like to keep a low profile in that dept - I've been thinking about getting one that relates to the car's Japanese roots. So I checked out a Japanese-to-English (not as easy as it sounds) site.
I found a great one that isn't taken in Calif & I'm keeping it for myself in case I change my mind. Here are some others (all 7 letters in keeping with Calif maximum):

MAJUTSU - black magic
BURAKKU - black
NINJATO - short straight sword
MUSAN - scattering fog
HAYASA - speed
KUIKKO - quick
JINSOKU - quick/fast
SUBAYAI - nimble/agile
KOUSOKU - high speed
