Custom sig image generator

So after seeing all of db8's custom signature images (the small s2ks) I got inspired to create my own. Knowing of the troubles he had with them, I decided to go about it a slightly different way though. I created a bunch of custom sigs just for the local DelVal guys first, then cut/cropped/chopped/stitched everything together into a website that lets you choose a list of the parts you want. Parts will be added on an irregular basis (based solely on my boredom) and there is no guarantee that you part will EVER make it into the page.

Hope you like it.

Please only 1 version per car, I suggest using your s2ki screen name with an addition on the end if you have more than one car (username_2, username_track etc). If you link straight to the image provided, then when you come back to edit your sig, you can use the same screen name and it will automagically change in your sig as well as the gallery. :) Thanks.

If you just want to play around with creating another sig and not messing up yours, then just don't enter a name in the name field and it will create the image to a temporary one that I use for testing additions.

New: If you go to the page, then click the link at the bottom of the parts list, it will open another page with all of the parts requests. Also at the top of that page is a field to enter a new part request. Please keep it reasonable and only add the parts you need right now to create a sig of your car(s). If the list gets out of hand then I may end up clearing it and putting a built in limitation of 1 part per day per person.

bballplaya210 06-05-2008 04:55 AM

Very cool. I could almost make my exact car since it's stock. Great job.

Any plans for adding the oem side strakes?

Sinji 06-05-2008 06:44 AM

cool thanks. can you make some custome ones?

AssassinJN 06-05-2008 06:58 AM

I can do fully custom but will not agree to a specific time frame (could be a week, could be a year). However if you want you can also post up pics/lists of parts you want added so you can create your own.

Awesome little utility! Thanks for putting it together

I'm customizing my S. It's like TireRack's wheel chooser, only with more configurability!

We should all start posting up side images of S's so that assassin can figure out what's worth making or putting int.

I have an Amuse front lip, looks slightly more aggressive from side than OEM but I'll live with it...in a cartoon picture on teh Internets. :)

Saki GT 06-05-2008 09:25 AM

That's quite the app you have - good job!

Um... what browser are you using?

Yes there are many layers to the images, because otherwise I'd have to make a whole car image for ever conceivable variation, which just wouldn't work.

And there is NFR, it's in the first column, under car color. It's called New Formula Red. :p

JstnRyan 06-06-2008 07:56 AM

Doesn't work for me in IE7.

What are you seeing? It has worked on every IE7 machine I've tried so far (both winxp and vista).

lol now i feel retarded... but i'm using IE7.

AssassinJN 06-06-2008 08:40 AM

Don't feel bad. :(

So it seems some people are having issues with IE7 then? That is very odd... I will have to look into it more. Adding a comment to the first post, but anyone who is having trouble please let me know the browser version (the whole version from Help > About) and the operating system you are using (WinXP sp1, sp2, sp3, Vista, Vistasp1, os-whatever). And even more helpful would be a screen shot of the issue (please pm it to me so we don't clutter this too much).

Thanks.

This has commercial all over it... But its still cool

If it gets shut down, it wasn't me.

JstnRyan 06-06-2008 09:01 AM

Win XP Pro, IE7 7.0.5730.13

It appears as if the site is supposed to have two columns, but their separation is adversely affected. If I had the time, I'd open up your source and help you troubleshoot, but I don't right now. Have you tried "display:block" on your two outtermost column DIVs?

EDIT: Nevermind, my head isn't in the right place right now. I'm almost positive your overlapping problem is due to the way IE handles absolute and relative positioned objects. If you use one or the other, but not both, it would probably work out better.

Commercial? It's free to use. Free to request parts. The only part with any money is the "VIP parts" which I only put in there if it gets too swamped with requests and some people are willing to pay to get their stuff done first. Heck I'll remove that right now and address it if/when it becomes an issue.

Still hardly a commercial, especially compared the the fiasco that db8's original free offerings became. :ponder:

I know what's causing the issue, it's that I'm using absolute positioning to guarantee alignment of the top divs with the images, but took a short cut and applied it to all divs. That's what I get for being lazy (been doing tableless for 4-5years now, I'm just lazy with my own stuff. :lol)

Edit: Fixed the IE jumble issue. Now you have all 3 columns corrected.

fastD 06-06-2008 10:48 AM

Thanks

I'm in agreement that it is not commercial.

The cost for VIP stuff and customizations is more of a "deterrent" to people who might go nuts with requests and keep Assassin busy for years with work. Hardly a money-making venture.

It's a wicked little toy and I think we all appreciate you creating it!!

AssassinJN 06-06-2008 11:14 AM

Woohoo. So major update, it now works in IE6 as well!! :D (at least for me on this comp)

Quite welcome, and the VIP is currently taken down as well just to verify my intentions. It may go up again in the future if I get swamped for some reason, but otherwise there is no need.

Boofster 06-06-2008 11:49 AM

awesome app! Id use:

OEM matched HT
smoked markers/diffusers
tinted windows

wills2k106 06-06-2008 05:58 PM

Works for me in Safari too. Where do you come up with this stuff? I am actually previewing parts on my car before I buy. Good Job on this too.

Hwy 17 06-07-2008 12:54 PM

I love it! Good work!

But I ain't using it until you shave the softtop!! Please have top down option available!

Otherwise thank you this is awesome!

AssassinJN 06-09-2008 04:37 AM

IE6 doesn't allow transparency in png's so I had to duplicate and rewrite a majority of the page just for older IE

- Mugen hardtop style and color choices for it
- Advan RG1, RG2, RS wheels in all colors
- Work Emotion wheels in white, gun metal, bronze
- Wings? (CR, Mugen, J's, Veilside, OEM, APR, etc.)
This kind of request will take a very longs time, which is why I originally had the VIP stuff. I will eventually get to this stuff, but prioritize parts that are actually on your car so I can get people what they need for an accurate sig first.

No tape still no worky.
Works for red/yellow/white. Suzuka and the silvers added soon.

Same with ap2 lips, there for some, not for all yet but will be there soon.

Works for me in Safari too. Where do you come up with this stuff? I am actually previewing parts on my car before I buy. Good Job on this too.
Thanks, I actually made an early concept version using db8's art since a number of people where photochopping his work to make their own sigs. Then I replaced it with my own art and there you have it.

I love it! Good work!

But I ain't using it until you shave the softtop!! Please have top down option available!
Don't worry, top down is coming (as you can probably tell by some of the option choices that are there such as seat color). This is a busy month for me at work and at home, so it may be a while but I will try to get it asap.

AssassinJN 06-09-2008 06:29 AM

Top down is there in limited fashion. Other interior color options to come.

gotswap 06-09-2008 07:32 AM

Where is the car? I selected all my options but have no car to copy.

Thanks!

AssassinJN 06-09-2008 07:36 AM

That car should be displayed at the top in real time, as you make the changes they should show right away.

Are you at work maybe? The images are hosted on my personal website so maybe they are getting blocked somehow? Or else do you have an extremely slow connection, maybe you need to wait for them to load?

freq 06-09-2008 07:38 AM

Good work Andrew.

I am at work using IE6, it displayed the car last week before you resolved the overlay. I'll try it when I get home.

Thanks for the response!!

HUYS2200 06-09-2008 08:29 AM

Make an Amuse GT1!

gotswap 06-09-2008 08:29 AM

ahhhh, I see it when it first loads and tries to put the colums side by side but when the page loads fully it stacks them in one column and the S2K window goes away.

AssassinJN 06-09-2008 08:46 AM

That's odd... Maybe one of the columns is too wide now. I'll test in IE quickly.

Edit: IE fixed, sorry bout that. Changed the name of a file but forgot to make the page look for the new name. :ignore:

On a more positive note, I have nailed down some server code to allow me to combine all the layered images into a single images at the click of a button/link. So you will be able to preview in real time, then click a link to create a single image for quick and easy saving.

gotswap 06-09-2008 08:59 AM

Looks good, thanks!!

gotswap 06-09-2008 09:13 AM

Looks kinda cool

Nice work

bballplaya210 06-09-2008 03:10 PM

Nice progress. I was hoping for a top down option soon. Now I need red seats and red roll hoops to complete my car.

apex factor 06-09-2008 05:04 PM

cool thanks! I modified mine, but kept your sig; hope you don't mind.

AssassinJN 06-09-2008 06:04 PM

Should have interior there now, you must have made yours while I was working on it.

Don't mind at all, thanks for keeping the sig, feel free to add your own under it of course. I like the slam and was trying to come up with a way to make it happen (and still might) but with the way everything is setup, it's kinda hard.

Part of the reason I am making it this way is so that people can get what they want without as much effort from me. What happened with db8's sigs was a real shame and I wish I was around when it happened as I would have offered to help get something like this setup to get them out the door quicker.

shotiable 06-09-2008 06:42 PM

props to AssasinJN for getting this up. big thanks

Two thumbs up for Assassin! Worked for my ride --

AssassinJN 06-10-2008 07:42 AM

Thanks guys. I added a bunch of small stuff so far today, and will start on adding laguna and apex blues next.

Edit: Laguna in, apex on deck.

neveronlines2k 06-10-2008 09:27 AM

Thats nice! I wish it had a Mugen front lip for AP2 and a trunk with ASM CF spoiler and MF10's :)

Great job! I know you cant have every part available in it.

AssassinJN 06-10-2008 09:36 AM

I actually have the ap2 mugen lip done in white, just have to convert to other colors to add. The rest will be added to the list and will be done eventually (probably soon for the spoiler as it's a quick and easy one).

kamui157 06-10-2008 10:01 AM

Apex blue added.

I have a part suggestion, too... How's about the Mugen 3-Piece spoiler?

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3083/...59318704da.jpg

Stratocaster 06-11-2008 08:13 AM

AssasinJN, that is very cool.

I have a couple of requests (Like you needed any)

1. Mugen 3-Piece spoiler
2. CompTech Side skirts
3. Prodrive GC-07 in British Black
3. APR GTC-200. It is more common than the 300.
4. Option for Shaved Sidemarkers.
5. Option for front and Rear Tow Hooks
6. A Lowering option. 1/2", 1" 1.5" and Slamed
7. HRE 540, Polished Lip, Gray center.

I have two S2000, and that would gen sigs for both :)

Will add them to the list, the lowering option will be difficult however, though I think I may have come up with a way to do it. I'll make sure to get that Mugen wing up there for you guys asap ;)

Just so everyone knows, the current image is actually equivalent to ~1.5" Drop, with almost zero gap above the tire.

Edit - Mugen spoiler added, need a better pic of it but looks ok for now I guess.

mr_jil 06-11-2008 11:36 AM

Awesome app and thanks for doing this! I plan to get mine up on my sig before too long.
I would love to see APR CF mirrors. :D

I am going to need some Spoon parts and Work Miester S2R in gunmetal with the polish lip

gotswap 06-11-2008 01:36 PM

How about some Mag Blue CE28's pretty please

Explicit Tuning 06-11-2008 01:48 PM

Forget these crazy requests how about Blue Seats and Blue Rollbar Covers? I mean the red is there... now all we need is blue for the Suzukas!

AssassinJN 06-12-2008 03:26 AM

Maybe all you suzuka owners should swap out the hideous blue interiors to conform to my sigs and improve your way of life instead! :p

I keed I keed. I'll add blue in a few minutes, as well as the silver backing if I can find a decent pic of them.

ps. Posting of pics of the parts you want, in a good profile view, will give your parts priority over others. Please note that these pics need to be hosted in your s2ki gallery as I work on some of this stuff during my down/break time at work where most online galleries are blocked by the firewall.
