Cut Carpet
The day after picking up my car, I noticed 2 slices in my carpet on the drivers side. I seem to remember reading something about this in a previous post. Sure enough,,, the comment was "everybody has a cut carpet".
I haven't heard much since, so I'm going to assume that it's still going on.
Question is,,, What are you guys doing about it? Is there a way to repair it before it becomes ragged?
Obviously Honda isn't fixing it are they?
Thanks
Dave

The carpet comes cut like that from the factory, so I don't think they'd do anything about it. My dealer installed the floor mats but didn't anchor them down so they slide a lot and sometimes you can see the slits. I have the MG Racing 3 pc mats from the GB coming which should cover the slits real nice
I had my carpet replaced and it had the two slits in it. That is the way they come from the factory. My original carpet was torn from the front slit to the back slit. When they reinstalled the carpet they didnt put the anchor back in because they felt they couldn't put it back in without tearing the carpet again. Which is fine with me. I was thinking of taking it to an upholstery shop to get the two slits mended. I have the same concern about it fraying over time.
I had to take a picture of this since noone else has one:

This has bothered me from day one.
Now, from reading previous posts, am I supposed to have a bracket installed here where the slit is???
Who else has used the twine to fix it?

From what I remember the 00 model had a Service Bulletin on the floormat anchor, I not certain what cars apply, but the original anchor is removed for a slightly different one. The 00's did not come with floor mats with the car they were separate, and the anchor had to be installed. Since most of the early cars where loaded up by dealers most had mats in them. I'm not certain if the 01's came with mats or what type of hooks they used. The 02's and up had mats that come in the car at PDI and 2 anchor posts in stead of one. I have no idea why these slits are in the carpet. To my knowledge no accessory or floor mat hook has ever used them. Maybe something for a Right hand drive car.
Comment: It sure appears that all of the engineering budget for the S2000 went into the engine and chassis, because we are constantly fighting these minor irritating things that simply don't happen on Accords, etc.
The floor mats and anchors were clearly an afterthought.. take a look at a new Accord with cleanly integrated mats and anchors.. just how hard was that? (along with decent audio, quiet controls, quality materials, etc).
After spending some time looking over late models Accords and Civics I have concluded that the S2000 has slipshod engineering and fitment in comparison. The mats are just one of many details lacking.
