Thumbs up cyl 2 misfire

My friend was getting her s2k serviced for CEL concern, and after diagnosis they said cyl 2 was misfiring because of a coil pack. Does anyone know what kind of situations might perpetuate this kind of problem? I am not sure what other details can be offered, but her car is at 40k miles, never driven hard, baby'd like no other. I am wondering since her car is out of warranty is there any way I can fight to get HONDA to fix? If anyone can explain why cylinders misfire that would be greatly appreciated too! Thanks for any input and sorry if it seemed like a noob question. I am mechanically noob, thank again.

Change spark plugs or wires. No major issues there.

S2000's have not spark plug wires.

Like mentions, change plugs to see if that solves the problem. If that does not work then try moving the coil pack to another cylinder. If the Misfire follows the coilpack, then that's going to be the problem. If your coil pack is bad, just replace it.

the op said that honda diagnosed the problem to be cylinder 2's coil pack. Basically the coil pack just went bad. not too much a big deal to fix, but it is a big deal if you let it keep misfiring.

also we do not have spark plug wires, we run individual coil packs.

you just need to go to honda and purchase a coil pack. It would take you about 10 minutes to replace and it will require an allen wrench and thats it! since your car is out of warranty then i dont think honda will cover it even though its minimal. im having enough trouble getting my extended warranty to cover ANYTHING!

a single coil pack is under 100 dollars. and since they diagnosed it, you should only have to purchase one. give me a holler if you have any other questions!
