I never shift above 2500 RPM. Too much wear on the engine and other component. 9,000? Yikes..nothing can possibly last long if you drive it that way.

In Miami, especially on US-1, you can't get to 5K without smacking into the back of the car in front of you!

I have to find these Homestead Raceway sideroads or the interstate to visit 9K without calling to much attention to myself. My Supertrapp exhaust system sounds like a racecar BEFORE the vtec transition (like most aftermarket systems) so I have to be careful in and around traffic. LOTS of cops down here. I'm not used to it.
Besides, as the So Flo owners will tell you, they get all horned up with cars that are pimped with stickers, wings, etc.

I found that shifting at 4-5K is comfortable when poking around in traffic...about the same as 3K in my Accord EX.

@ 3,500 RPM's for the first ten minutes after cold start

@ 4,000-5,000 for normal "around the town" driving

@ 7,500-9,000 when my addiction starts kicking in and I need my fix

daily driver and weekend driver here -- avg shift before 3 bars = 4 - 5k , after that i rarely shift below 4.5 --- vtec several times to and from work. however ... i rarely look at the tach ... just go by that lovely sound! for those of you who don't have an intake .... get one now.
