its funny cause i asked my roommate to go out and start the car while i took a piss and when i came out i thought the car would be running and he was sitting there like a monkey doing a math problem trying to start it by turning the key. i ask him what was wrong and he goes "i dunno i have the clutch pushed in and the key wont go past on." i go look on the left side of the wheel. he says oh.

funny part wasw is he has started the car a few times before

Sorry but I just cannot believe this is true.

If it's true I'm not sure it would be funny; sad maybe?

Well as bad as this is... At least you didn't put the key in and say "Engine Start!" because that button is meant to be pushed. Sad indeed.

The exact opposite happens to me. Whenever I'm driving anyone else's car, I turn the key twice, then turn whatever switch is on the left. I've turned on cruise controls, headlights, dashboard light dimmers, windshield wipers, and the list goes on.

I did the same thing my first time at the gas station. However, I think even if I didn't drive the car for a year, the push button start wouldn't be a problem. The gas door release knob isn't a bright red button right in front of your face.
