Day/night mirror for 2002 s2k
I've read several posts on installing a day/night mirror and they all seem to involve a blowtorch and my windshield. In examining the mounting on the rearview mirror I noticed it was held on by a philips screw. Upon removing the screw the mirror came off and what remained was a square piece attached to the windshield. It must be possible to find a day/night mirror to fit this piece without removing it. Has anyone found a mirror that has the same or similar mounting bracket as the stock mirror from the s2000? Or am I living in fantasyland?
Gentex autodim mirrors use a standard GM button mount. When I replaced my windshield, the installer twisted off the Honda button with a flick of the wrist/plyers altho heating the button first would loosen it easier and lessen the chances of a windshield crack. Easiest route for you would to wait until the rock chips on your windshield require you to replace it and then just glue a gm mount on.

When you move it from day to night it needs to be re-adjusted. Kind of a pain. A decent day/night mirror works all the time. I'm surprised Honda chose to go cheap on this item.
The "night" setting does not work well with the top down, because any streetlights or even the moon and stars get reflected via the non-attenuated "day" angle. But it works fine when the top is up.
I didn't even know you could make an S roll. Did the stock rollbars/seat-humps help at all? They don't seem to be high enough to help much. How bad were you hurt?
As far as changing the mirror, maybe a soldering iron would work better at heating the button. No flame. Good luck.

I use a Broadway mirror over my stock mirror. Works fine for reducing the glare from headlights.
