Dealer appraisal of my '00 S2000......
If they told me that I would laugh in their face and never come back for service there again.
When I was looking to trade in my 2000 Prelude, the Lexus dealer was going to give me 18K CDN for it. I laughed in their face and left and came back with my S after I traded it into Honda for 24K CDN.
With the tax savings, I only lost about 1000 off of a private sale compared to trading it in.

I think your $22,000 offer was not too far off?
With dealer markup, if the same vehicle is going for $29,500 with 3x the miles I should not have to lose $7,000 so they can make that up in profit by ripping me off. It doesn't take $7,000 for a dealer to make that back in terms of buying floor space, advertising, etc.
Kelly blue book trade in value is closer to 26,000 and that takes into account the dealer cost to resell the vehicle. I am not asking for a miracle here, just a fair price. I know I will lose some money on my car but that much is ridiculous.

kelley blue book (kbb.com) gives 26,000 USD for private party sale value for my zip code (San Francisco) if in excellent condition, 22,200 USD for trade in. CDD equivalents are 40,200 and 34,560 respectively...
Put it up for sale yourself, then buy the new one at the best price you can get.
Good luck, and post please when you sell...

If there isn't much detail to it, I know of one dealership that will sell you an '03 at MSRP or will meet any advertised price here in IL...

this is what i ended up doing.....albeit, a year later.
Here in Dallas some high mileage MY00 are going for about $20K at the dealer. Lower miles are going for about $22K. It is interesting to see the new Mazda RX being advertized at $4K off MSRP. Must be slow sales.
That last post of PLYRS makes zero sense unless you check the dates...
Dealers will always try to rip people off on trade ins, but, like everyone else I read your story going hmmm...25K too low? ...seems okay to me...Oh it's Canadian Dollars! Those bastards!

Ahh...if only I was there at the time...
