You easily can change your own oil, transmission fluid, differential oil, and engine/cabin filters using the guides in this forum. They are comprehensive and include pictures. I was a complete newbie and did those things myself with no issues. You'll probably save a couple hundred bucks even including purchasing all the tools that you'll never need to buy again. There are good recommendations for cheap and reliable online stores for Honda parts and Honda regular maintenance items/fluids if you search for them.

Engine oil, transmission fluid, and differential oil can all be recycled together. Many cities offer curbside recycling with containers that they provide for free if you call up. You just put it out next to the garbage and they replace it with an empty container. Plus you'll feel manly.

hahah yeah that's bad!! Did you have them actually do the other oils and filters there too? That's a complete rip off.

I was charged $18.65 and I had my own oil (AMSOIL) filter (Honda "PCX") and chrush washer. They wanted to do the 30K mile check but I said no thanks.

same here

This thread reminds me...got to search the DIY for trans/diff fluid changes and see if I can somehow pull them off without lifting the car since I successfully changed the oil without a lift haha

i had to have the state inspection done on my s2000. so while i was at the dealer getting that done i figured i would just have the car serviced since the service indicator was on. $98.00 just for an oil and filter change?
Dealers are always overpriced (though some are better than others as you've seen). Definitely ask for the cost beforehand if you're going to have them do anything.

needless to say, i'm going to northern tool and buying an oil/fluid extractor and doing the next service in my garage. even after buying that and all the filters, and some gc oil i will save almost $300.00.
I use a Mityvac 7400 and it does an excellent job.

You'll need to get your S onto jack stands for the diff and tranny.

Luckily, we have a really good independent shop that services a lot of our S's here in Houston.
