Default Dealer Test Drive

I recently made an appointment with a local Honda dealer to test drive the '02 S2K. After talking me up, we went outside to " prepare." She was brand new: a Silver/Black beauty. The car had obviously never been driven. After removing some plastic, the salesman and I drove off. She had 22 miles to the best of my recollection... I was just too dazzled. He would drive first, so that he could " show me what the car can do ". The tank showed empty, and we immediately stopped for gas. After a Five Buck Fill-Up , we headed out. He immediately brought her to VTEC and REDLINE ..... bang ... 2nd gear... VTEC to REDLINE. Somewhere in third gear, a traffic light loomed. No need to worry though, as my friendly salesman braked her to a stop in record distance. My turn. As I slid into the seat, I asked " Any break-in ? " A wave of his hand and I was off. Honestly, at the time, I didn't know better, revving to Red, crunching the brakes.

I just received my BLACK/RED. It had 26 miles. This is " normal " I'm told. I really hope that mine wasn't "tested ".

Any other " Test Drive Testimonials ? "

You should post the dealer name so atleast none of us accidentally end up with that poor car.

agreed. please post the dealer's name. I know I wouldn't want to get stuck with that one. no offense to you driving, but there is a break in procedure for the car.

poor car.

if your "new" S had 26 miles on it... it was absolutely test driven and treated with the same lack of concern that you just showed. a truly new S shouldn't have more than 8 or so miles on the odo. most are showing between 5 and 8.

My car had 13 miles on it when i got it. My test drive was the drive around the dealer lot before I drove home (already paid for it).

I had the same experience when I bought my '02. To the day if I see the salesman around town he asks me if I like VTEC ing it. I just smile. I know 600 miles is coming.
