Default Dealers & s2ki info

I'm fairly new to this but has their been any discussion to emailing dealers across the country so that they would give this site info to anybody who buys an s2k? I didn't know about it until someone told me about it at a local car wash (i know i could have done a search but sometimes going through the junk that comes up isn't worth it). There's great "stuff" here for any s2k owner!

Dealers hate informed consumers. I doubt they would send anyone to a site like this. Also this site is a great site for info on the S2K however if you don't understand who most of the posters are you can get a very bad feeling for the S2K and Honda on here. I know 2 people who after reading this site elected not to buy an S2K because of reliability issues when in fact the car is very reliable and gets the highest rankings from consumer reports and others.

A large number of the best informed posters on here drive there cars very hard. There is nothing wrong with that, its what many buy the cars for however they are going to break more. Its not realistic to expect Honda to cover problems with cars that are used on the track or street raced with clutch drops ect.. A friend with lots of racing experience adds 250 miles to the mileage of a car that is raced for every mile on the track in terms of wear and tear on the car. He thinks that is very conservative. If you read between the lines on many posts with problems you can tell the car has been used and used hard and often heavily modded. Again I am not saying anything at all is wrong with that. It will however affect reliability. Many after doing that expect Honda to cover problems. Thats is simply not realistic. Often when a car is modded and breaks there is a mad scramble to put the car back to stock to try and get Honda to repair it free. Then they put posts on here about how bad Honda is. They are in general pretty good at knowing if a car has been modded. Just looking at bolt heads and other small things can show what has been done to a stock engine.

The S2000 is one of the lowest cost cars that has the performance to be great fun on the track. A far higher percentage of S2000's then other performance brands are being raced because Honda did such a great job providing a high performance package at a reasonable cost. I have a friend with a Porche who bought an S2000 just to use on the track and in his words "Drive the hell out of it". His Porche will never see the track or be driven like the Honda! Overall I think that is a great tribute to Honda and the Car!!!

I agree that most dealers wouldn't want buyers to know about this site BEFORE they buy - I was thinking after the sale is complete but you're most likely right about the repair liability and even the possibility that they might "find things" about the car after reading some of these posts.

I definately can tell some of these s2k's are not being used to buy groceries - personally I like to find that line between "havin fun" & not killing the car.

Service departments don't like informed consumers either. It's a shame really.

Most dealers seem to think the Net is a quagmire of misinformation about our cars. As GeorgeP stated, they do not like informed customers.
