Dealership PINSTRIPPED S2Ks!
I've been shopping around for an MY02 for purchase in April. I stopped over at a dealership in Chicago this past week to see a Silver/Red....just to see if I would like the new red interior (awesome).
The saleperson brought me to the car on the lot and I noticed two red lines running along side the car up to the hood. I didn't remember this from pictures and was kind of taken back. I proceded to open the door to look inside and noticed the lines (sticker/tape) were scratched off and broken above the door handle.
I asked the salesman "What the He** is this?" He looked nervous....and said.. "uh...yeah we pinstrip all our cars...management does it to every car.." "We can remove it, no problem". He then proceded to show me the same thing on all the Civics and Accords...which didn't really look bad. But on the S2000, it took away from the clean look and it was obviously a cheap job. The salesman then admited that they used this to charge a little more for the car.
I don't think I'll be buying from them!

The dealership I purchased my old Prelude from did that also. It's a way to mark up the car another few hundred dollars. Most people who do not like the pinstripe will ask them to remove it and still end up paying for the stripe anyways...
You are the buyer, you have the choice to go somewhere else. I would advise it. There is no such thing as a forced option, if you don't like the product a dealership offers than go somewhere else. very simple, see? I'm glad at least ChiS2K has some sense...no need to pay for things you don't want
When I was looking for S2000's I looked at a really nice white one with pinstripes thta matched the red interior very well. Even though it matched, it still IMO looked terrible. I agree - it really takes away from the clean lines of the car.
In general, I hate the pinstripes. No customer should accept them from a dealer unless they give you a spare set, to use if one of the pinstriped panels ever has to be refinished. And, as has been said, they are outrageously overpriced.

I can't imagine a pinstripe on an S2000... Our front fenders see way too flat to make it look anywhere close to right...
Wonder if this dealer has mounted a continental kit to an S2000 yet???????????
