Dealerships?
Hello everyone.
I have been reading this forum for a few weeks now but have not been too active in the forum. I wasn't planning on posting much - but I have been compelled to by my dealership.
I've owned my S2000 for a couple weeks now and have been very happy with it. Just about 9 days ago I brought it in to the dealership for a few problems with it - a few cosmetic things I mentioned at the time of purchase as well as a problem with the clutch. The service manager I met with said that the clutch needed to be replaced and that once the parts came in, I could bring the car in to have all the problems taken care of in 2 days. 9 days later and I *might* be picking it up tomorrow. Never a call from the dealership to tell me of the delay - and the Ford Windstar loaner that smells of mold and rotting popcorn is just an insult.
From what I have been reading on this forum, this does not seem to be unusual and this strikes me as a grave injustice to all of us. I live in Rhode Island, the smallest state granted, but there are also 5 Honda dealerships within 15 minutes of me. If anyone can tell me if they have had any luck with any of the local dealerships, I would be most grateful.
I called all the dealerships near me asking the cost of a hard top - not one could answer. They all took my cell phone number down to call and over a week later I have yet to get a call back from any of them. They can't take 5 minutes to either look in a book or make a phone call? Strikes me as odd that not one place in all of Rhode Island wanted me to spend $3500 - seems more likely that they just didn't care enough to service a customer.
I can't help thinking that there is something that we should be doing. Has anyone considered starting a petition of sorts? I would be very interested in finding a way to notify Honda that the dealerships in Rhode Island are not up to par with what one would expect. If anyone has any ideas on anything that could be done locally or nationally - I'd be most interested to hear them.
Thank you for your time and for everyone who has posted many helpful pieces of information in the past.

Well, if you want to spend some $$ on a HardTop, dont even waste your time trying to get one from the dealership. Contact Hardtopguy on the board. He actually had a GB going on them in the GB forum and they are much cheaper then any dealership can match.
As for the rest, I have no idea. Just keep pushing them on getting your car done in a timely manner and tell them you want a car rental (you didnt buy a sports car to get a Family mini van).

First of all, congrats on the purchase of the car. Welcome to our community.
Your experience with the dealership is a disgrace. I don't understand why it has to be like that. Buying and owning a sportscar (or any car for that matter) should be a great, exciting, and pleasurable experience. Instead dealerships like that turn it into a horror story. Rest assured, not all dealers are like this. I have an excellent relationship with mine and have been treated well every time I've gone there. Perhaps you need to try one of the other dealerships in your area.
As far as the hardtop and any other accessory goes, don't even waste your time with the dealership, especially if they act as if they are doing you a favor. Contact hardtopguy.com (as mentioned by Quik S2k). He is a site sponsor. He is also an upfront guy and a good guy to do business with.
